Frequently Asked Questions
How do Security Films work?
In a security film, the film forms a strong molecular bond to the glass that holds it together, even after multiple impacts. Even when the glass is eventually broke or cracked, such as if it was stuck repeatedly by an intruder, the glass will remain attached to the film. In most cases, it remains completely intact.
Can someone still get through my window with security film installed?
Yes someone can, as with any form of security system. The same is true if you have CCTV, a state of the art burglar alarm, or even a personal bodyguard. Nothing is 100% effective. However, it will make your home significantly more difficult to enter as it will take an intruder much longer to get through the film. Intruders rely heavily on moving with pace and getting in and out quickly so this extra protection is valuable.
Will Security Films work with my security system?
Yes- Security film can be used in tandem with certain alarms. When an intruder tries to enter your home, the alarm will sound after the very first impact with the glass. This means the alarm will sound before they have even broken through the film leaving the intruder outside while the alarm sounds inside. The intruder then has to make a decision: take a very large risk by continuing to break through the glass while everyone is looking out their windows to see what the noise is, or leave and run away.
How can Security film protect me in such natural disasters as earthquakes?
A major source of injuries and fatalities during natural disasters is flying glass. Security film can help prevent these injuries by helping to keep the glass intact inside its frame.
How long does it take for my security window film to “dry”?
Depending on weather and the thickness of the security film, it can take between 30 and 45 days for the film to fully dry and cure. During this time, small water bubbles may appear and your windows may become slightly hazy. This is normal and natural. As the film dries, this will disappear. Once completely dry, your security window film will be virtually invisible and look great for years to come.
We want to take the risk out of this decision for you which is why all of our security window films come with a manufacturer backed warranty. Most of our films will have a 10-year commercial warranty and a lifetime residential warranty which includes a 2-year glass breakage and 3-year seal failure warranty.
